Sent August 23, 2008, in response to my discontinuous-tension cube. He represented it as follows: “The last related study I did; one which I thought seriously of doing very big, was a model I called ‘Sprawl Piece’ because it rather sprawled over the ground. It had long in-between extensions to link the units randomly at some distance from one another. I think now I was smart not to do it big since I don't think I would have liked it. In fact it was the piece I was considering for a 1974 show at New York's Waterside Plaza before I decided instead to cannibalize the parts from the earlier cantilever ‘Easy-K’, transforming them into what became ‘Free Ride Home’.”
