8v Double-Layer Tensegrity Dome: "Door"

This is an inside view toward a "door" of the dome. The outer zig-zag array of guy wires attaching the outer layer of the dome's tendon network to the ground is omitted at this location to provide easy entry to the dome. If the struts were longer than four feet it would be easier. At the four foot length being used, most adults can only enter on their hands and knees. The three-symmetry of the structure dictates that three of these doors occur at three symmetrical locations at the base of the structure. An octahedral vertex is located above the door.
