double-layer tensegrity dome based on 4v octahedron

This is the second tensegrity dome I assembled. Unlike later domes I've designed which depend on ground anchoring as part of their structure, this one is a complete system and doesn't require ground anchors. Its assembly was completed on April 25, 1990. Three of the blue struts touch the ground, while the other three are slightly above the ground. The yellow struts converge at the peak of the structure. It made an interesting wall hanging for a decade but it finally lost it's novelty for me and was getting in the way, so I took this photo and disassembled it.

I put together an earlier version on November 11, 1987, but that was disassembled by the time this one was assembled.
